La Casa, Inc. Receives Historic Funding to Expand Services in Rural New Mexico

In 2023, La Casa, Inc. was honored to receive historic funding from Esperanza United and Mujeres Latinas en Acción. This funding specifically targets Hispanic and Latinx culturally specific community-based organizations that provide domestic and sexual assault services. Esperanza United distributed these funds to 28 organizations nationwide, sourced from the federal 2021 Family Violence Prevention & Services Act (FVPSA) and the American Rescue Plan Act.

With this funding, La Casa has been able to expand our service delivery to some of New Mexico’s most rural and isolated communities, particularly along the border with Texas and Mexico. In the fall of 2024, representatives from Esperanza United visited our South Valley office to conduct a specialized training. This training focused on developing a culturally specific peer support program, tailored to the unique needs of the community we serve.

Through this initiative, we are committed to bringing more advocacy and resources to our rural communities, ensuring that everyone, regardless of location, has access to the support they need.”
